Palestinian cinema

A brief introduction: At the film society of Lincoln center.

Columbia University Professor Hamid Dabashi is introducing the screening of Michel Khleifi's Wedding in Galilee on Wednesday, September 27 (6 pm).

The films in the series include Wedding in Galilee (Michel Khleifi, 1987), Chronicle of a Disappearance, (Elia Suleiman, 1996), short films by Palesitnian filmmakers, and Paradise Now (Hany Abu-Assad, 2005).

Wedding in Galilee and Chronicle of a Disappearance are both great. Both are available on dvd though; it would be so much better if the festival had searched for palestinian movies that did not get relatively large distribution, but I guess they tred and couldn't get any.

jij i came accross this link (http://www.caabu.org/events/palestinian-film-festival.html). do you know if any of these movies are on DVD? i couldn't find any on amazon. i ask since you're the cinema expert. have you seen your caricature on LB yahoo group?

Elia Suleiman has a fine movie "Divine Intervention".
You can find all the movies on Emule - for free, but then in USA you can end up in court for that, don't know...

O Mirvat, I wish I could make it this Wed/Thurs :( but will be stuck in the hospital until late both nights... I would love to do something soon though! There are actually two films this weekend that I was thinking about getting to...
