Calm the fuck down

It's bigger than us. Well of course. Nothing new. We always know as Lebanese that our internal issues are a mere reflection of anything that is happening in the region. We're cursed with geography.

I have posted Alex Jones' terror storm earlier on this blog but check the rest of his links here.
The only lesson to get out of this is how pre-planned and how big of an operation all this is. The troubles that resonate throughout the ME right now being nothing but a reflection of a larger power struggle in the world is not a reason for us to lose our principles or not to take a stand against it. However it is worth to stop and think. It is worth not to fight each other over matters that get planned by the leaders and get inflicted upon us. It is worth to look at the big picture and rise above our differences and take a stand together. Let's not self-destroy in the process.
I wish we just calm the fuck down. As hot headed as we are, thugs carrying guns on the streets are not going to solve our problems.

Descartes tells us, "Science in its entirety is true and evident cognition. He is no more learned who has doubts on many matters than the man who has never thought of them; nay, he appears to be less learned if he has formed wrong opinions on any particulars. Hence it were better not to study at all than to occupy one's self with objects of such difficulty, that, owing to our inability to distinguish true from false, we are forced to regard the doubtful as certain; for in those matters any hope of augmenting our knowledge is exceeded by the risk of diminishing it."

I think Descartes is an elitist bastard. Of course his maxim could be applied to science as we all know that the more we discover and learn, the more we know how much we still need to learn. That does not mean that the lack of initiative towards a better understanding on an individual level as well as a collective level is something we should give up on.
In politics as well, Descartes' warning fits nicely with the Orweillian state of mind that most uninformed people are left with. In the extreme case, people are getting informed on a portion of the facts and discarding facts that do not serve their blind loyalties or oppose to their system of belonging and beliefs. Emotions are very dangerous when they interfere with a thought process and only result in a state of cognitive dissonance where one believes in the facts that serve one's emotions.

What's the solution?
I would never say listen to Descartes and remain passive in this case. Learn the truth, the full truth and nothing but the truth? That could be a start. Think and don't be emotional.

So it's bigger than us. That doesn't mean it's beyond your scope of understanding. Politics should be a science for the people. That means get the full story and get a full knowledge before you react. No one should be thinking for you and taking your decisions for you. However, you have to look at all the facts before you go on fighting each other. You have to pursue all the facts and make your decisions with moderation and plan your reactions away from emotions since if we learned anything from science is that we never know everything. We don't know all the facts.

We will as they go down in history books. We will as secret files become declassified. Maybe 50 years down the road. We will all find a piece of truth that we missed out on.

Does anyone feel confident about their knowledge enough right now to go and fight based on it? Does any leader inspire enough confidence to us right now to be followed blindly?
Did any religion ever tell you to fight?

Let's calm the fuck down!

Descartes went into a bar.
The bartender asked: "Would you like a drink"?
Descartes answered: "I think not"! - and thereby vanished forever into thin air.

Thanks Mirvat, this s good, really good.

I agree with you, the only way out is by
1- Educate ourselves, not by your small little surroundings and lands but a general understandings, global understanding and learn more about humanity and how history repeats itself.

2- Expose these cults and secret bullshit that time after time, leaders and superpower are obsessed with. Hitler was obsessed with cults and he selected his signs based on them. Same we found now that Bush, Kerry and other American presidents are engaged in similar cults and secret ceremonies.
These cults are more dangerous than religion. But wrong understanding of Religions too are dangerous and must be exposed.

3- We MUST STOP THE VIOLENCE WITHIN. In another word, we must look at ourselves and see the violence within. Why we still love these violent movies and watching people killing themselves..why we get angry just merly if someone disagree with us..

4- Spread the word so we stop being reactive and start being aware of actions around us and inside us...

(continued :) I had to leave)

Another thing, there is so much enough information to base our opinion on. For example Global warming. Bush and company (conservatives here in Canada) still love to discuss and tell you there is not much evidence. Time passes beyond repair and still they argue forever ..why?? what other reason but to ease the burden on factories of their lobbied friends. ENOUGH someone has to say, enough argument and enough proofs. Same goes here. The guy (Alex) goes inside these cults, takes videos, color videos, with audios, roamed around there, made a documentary about it, Bush gets asked about it and don't answer, pictures of Carter, Arnold, Clinton, Nixon and other are taken there. We still argue forever, oh we want to see more proof. Alex comes forward Before 9/11 and announces that there is a major offense that is being planned against the tower using Ben Laden, Bush's brother security contract gets canceled on the day of the incident, Israeli messaging service sends voice messages to hundreds not to come at that day, Guliani picks up the metal debris as soon as possible and becomes extremely rich thereafter from security contract (or similar stuff), Building 7 goes down without any airplane attacking it, and after 2 days of a rich man buying a pricey insurance for it, the same day there were drill in the pentagon for same scenario, US invades two countries, Israel is running havoc without anyone's attention since they are fighting terrorist...Arabs, Muslims, terrorist, bad bad bad...isn't that too much of a coincidence??
sorry for any typos, i m just typing between few activities today...

the fact that most people here are suspecting to say the least that their government has something to do with 9/11 and are quiet still blows my mind. i would understand if they refuse to believe it even since it's so hard to believe for some but to accept it and remain quiet??!!

and do we really need proof for global warming? it's mid december and it's 60deg out in nyc!!! :)

ok, what i liked about the results of the mid-term elections, even when we know that all politicians are the same, is that the majority of the people are sending the message accross. i always yell at my roommate and tell him isn't this a democracy? how come people don't do anything about the direction the country is taking? he answers that it's a fascist country (of course) and that all americans can do is vote..
problem is all the system is rotten. what is the solution?
people have a short attention span mone and need solid solutions. like when we post these things and these facts, sometimes i think what's the point? a person who wants to know has all the internet to go and learn and find out. in our days, people can't make a difference it seems. the people of the leading countries are as opressed as us in the 'third world' countries.. it's like we said before, it's the ruling elite.. so what do we do?

we learn about it and watch it happen.

I understand, Mirvat, about "what's the point". And I still say...keep on posting. I say take a breather, indulge in dark depression, and get up and do it again. That's what I do.

You must know that there are many many people reading your posts. You never know when you might open one's mind.

Rhiannon said...

I was reading an an article written by the late Charles Black about the short attention span of the American public.

He was talking about Sabra and Shatila. He remembered vividly covering this most outrageous massacre against Palestinians and Lebanese ...and he wondered, at that time....how long until the American public forgets? And he was greatly saddened that he was right, many years later.

And I say: Do as the zionists do:

Never again! Never forget!

But we don't have to commit massive crimes against their children like they do ours.

Rhiannon said...

Most importantly, I was reading another post by someone. He thinks the world won't change until Jesus comes.

He may be right.

But if the world must change without Jesus, then it must change within the USA and 'israel'.

The people striving to make ends meet week by week - they are the ones that have to get fed up and realize that something is very wrong. I can't imagine any other way, besides Jesus and His second coming.

Unfortunately, I haven't had any time to read any of Alex Jones work, although I do read the work of others.......

I don't understand youRhiannon!
The Palestinians fucked themselves up on their own accord - nothing to do with Jesus or Israel.
They are just fucked, fucking Arab tribes fucking each other.
What the heck, you want to blame Israel - it will not do a thing though.
Palestine has to come to it's own identity first and stop screwing around internally.
As long as they continue to do so, they will be killed like rabbits by them Israelis.
Don't you get that - into your freaking mouse-brain-head!!!!!!!!
Yes, Israel as a state is in the wrong. But that doesn't mean that you can't pick up your sore ass and stop whining.
Instead pick up the branches and the reis and find some solutions, god damn complainer.
What do you suggest? Bomb Israel to hell? Well, that's not going to happen because Palestinian firecrackers will not do the trick against the fourth most mighty military force on this globe.!
Do I love Israel? That's not the fucking point. Do I believe the US should cut all support to Israel -no, that's not the bullshit point either.
The point is, with all it's misery - Palestine has no clue whatsoever to continue to exist.
So what are you gonna do about it Rhiannon, blame Israel and the US forever? That's been tried and fucking lame. Heard that, been there.
You have to understand one thing Rhiannon, I don't have great sympathies for the Israeli state and how it came about. But I have no great sympathy for the name callers of your kind either.
Bottom line, perhaps the Arabs and the Israelis deserve each other.
What's your solution - not your name calling Rhiannon?
Tell me!

Thanks Mirvat for helping spreading the word re these docs, I will keep updating that blog, not only with Alex but with good documentaries regarding 9/11. I added a physics professor views regarding the impossibilities of the towers falling like that, and an air traffic office also from his perspective. If u find some good documentaries or reputable interviews lemme know...to add them there..

Did u hear the news? U.S is preparing to boost its Navy presence in the Arabic Gulf to scare Iran or as a build up to kick their ass? Can you believe the nerve on this administration?? truly amazing...

by the way, Zee.. please let s not attack each other, and talk about issues instead, and generalizing pals as arab tribes fucking each other?
I am against a lot of their stragagies (The pals) but the people there I wouldn't critisize, but the politicians. People there mostly very poor so how can we ask much from them? You can go to homless person and scream all you want in his face...would that work? worse yet, you see the homeless getting beaten up and raped, and then offered to compromise and possibly due to his upbrining or low iq didnt, scream at him again? then what do we say about these africans dying of hunger and still each family has good number of kids..assholes? that does not help at all...we need to EDUCATE THEM about the right choices and change their mentaility about life.. may be that is one thing, but certainly not the name calling...

yes let's all please calm down.
mone, i sure will. well it's not surprising that they would do that. the game is still on and let's hope it remains a game of showing muscles. i have to admit it's not looking very optimistic. to go through all this trouble means they're not willing to talk to syria anytime soon which sucks for lebanon or to iran which sucks for the world.

zee, i respected your wish to visit the ME to learn about those people you are dismissing as low lives and barbaric tribes. it's like mone said much more complicated than that. the poor people whose homes have been demolished and kids shot with random bullets or blown up on landmines here and there.. people who have been starving as is reported even in haaretz.. are helpless. the politicians are fighting each other. throughout the ME there's a split between a pro-american and an anti-american government these days.
this doesn't mean that because the palestinian politicias are fighting among each other right now that the poverty and horrible conditions inflicted upon them is not the direct effect of the occupation. it is.

Ingrid, you have to tell him that he has a lot of fans out there :) he's really fearless and i really respect him for that. i saw a clip showing this one time when he was arrested by bush for asking him a question.

Anonymous said...

Mirvat - I never stated that Arabs are low lifes and barbaric tribes, in the contrary - I admire them to be part of the cradle of civilization. So there!
What I am truthfully are getting fed up with, is "finger pointing politics".
And Rhiannon is part of that clan.
That's all.

The polarization between Anti- and Pro American (US) liaisons, will not make any due in the future. It's just not a fucking scheme to live by. Palestine has her heart ripped out of a living pulsating body, I certainly know that.
But how are you gonna fix it, how are you going to stick that bleeding heart into the dying corpse again??????
By saying: Oh yeah, this and that has been done wrong to us?
Forget it - that technique will never work - it is god damn self-realization that will bind people together - even Arafat understood this!
No, the future is not "blame on others" - the future (if there is any) "love locally, fuck globally". (I hope you get this right...:)
I know I am strenuous at times, but I need you people to understand one more time:
I have no inherent sympathy for Israel, but I don't either carry automatic empathy for its neighbors.

I've always found it unspeakably good fun to witness pms in male types as yourself - quite hilarious. But you go too far about the Palestinians and Lebanese and others who suffer as they have forever.

Way, way too hysterical, filled with stupidity and hatred for a people that you clearly do not know about. You are vulgar, vain, and truly, it is in your best interests to simply post your dull and plain reactions to Mirvat's stories and poems, as I see that is all you are meagerly capable of.

I never ever ever asked you if you loved "israel". Why would I even be so dumb as to point any kind of question your way? You need to get way way over yourself, my conceited, arrogant, loudmouthed fence-sitter, for that is all you are. A fence-sitter = coward.

I don't need to understand anything about you, nor do I want to. Don't flatter yourself. I don't give a shishe if you sympathize with 'israel'.

I don't give a royal shishe what goes on in that tiny dot of vapid electriciy in your skull cap.

You ask hypothetical questions as if I am right there having this conversation with you.....your fantasizing and you need to stop, because your whole post is quite the equal to that of a madhatter and maybe you shouldn't go to the Middle East. Perhaps a resting home would do you some good, instead.

Maybe they can teach you to center yourself, as you are way off balance.

For starters, you can stop the "logical, and well educated" use of the F words. You're not making points, unless ya wanna be a teenager and think you still are - you poor deluded person.

Rhiannon said...

You are strenous at times? Try WEAK.

I daresay that nobody here cares for your inherent sympathy for "israel" or your lack of it for Its neigbours.

Sympathy isn't the issue. You keep missing the points, can't help you there. Pity.

First of all, I am Zee - or else come up with any kind of other fucking name Rhiannon. And don't preach to me about fuck when FUCK is in the title of this post-- Do you fucking read me? So don't fucking lecture me when I am supposed to use fuck or not,

Second, who are you to claim that all misery in this world does rest solely on YOUR shoulders?

Third, let's play this cool. You don't give a shit about me, that's OK, then just don't give a shit about me and stop whining - capice?!

Fourth, I usually put some thought into my posts and responses Rhiannon, if they are inadequate, then simply dismiss the effort -especially if you disagree with my statements. Just fucking dump them, or else put up a good counter argument. Calling me names will not help your cause.

You have no fucking clue Rhiannon how much I actually care about the ME, so your ramblings are actually painful.

Be well, and "happy whatever you celebrate".

here s a silly joke I got from one of my silly friends:

Abulbad stops to help a beautiful blond woman repair her flat tire. While doing the repair he asks her what she does. She replies that she is a sexologist. Intrigued he asked what kind of work is that. She replies that she is studying the fact that the Italians have the longest ones and the Iranians the largest ones. He keeps quiet to himself, finishes the tire repair, then shakes her hand introducing himself as Antonio Rafsanjani

To 1:56, 1:57, 1:59,

Clearly you are mistaken and the Israelis posting on this blog have superior manners compared to you - even supreme is delightful and the content of her/his post is together and going somewhere compared to your stark raving lunacy. I swear, reading your post, I could feel the spit coming off my computer screen……..tsk, tsk, tsk.

I am aware that Mirvat has used the F word many times - I am aware many other people have. But there is a difference. Mirvat uses it with meaning. Class, it is called class......look up the word, you might learn something.

You don't have class.

I wouldn't be surprised you wallpapered your kitchen with this F word.

Let's play it cool? Are you trying to be funny? The only thing you have ever been right about EVER - so far - is that I don't care about you. That is true. I have no time to waste on nonsensical hysterics as yours. Though I do find it amusing how you go way off track again with the assumption that I care about you. How you shove yourself into the blog screaming like a lunatic, as if I actually sought you out for dialogue.....I haven't, I never have. and since you lack humility, the decent grace of a human being, and have more of the mouth of a teenage thug who thinks he's oh so cool, I never will.

You talk about self-realization? Please, go into to your room and self-realize. Center and self-realize - practice what you preach [as you do in vulgarity] - but it would be wise - if do you not post to me anymore.

I didn't call you any names, I wouldn’t stoop that low. You need to go back and read your posts to me, boy. You’re the name caller, not I. And I'm calm as can be, and I'm telling you for your sake, if you care about the M.E. as you scream and whine that you do.....educate yourself. Read. Why don’t you watch some Alex Jones films? There’s a good film called loose change by Dylan Avery about 9/11. Start learning about the world you really live in, not the world you wish you lived in. Spouting philosophy mumbo jumbo goes only so far.

Get over yourself and stop assuming that I seek you out. Hell, there are better people for me to seek out, even andry and snudz keep their cool as indifferent as they are.

A lecture, as well as advice for you: when I use profanity, I will use it when it needs to be used, so that what I am saying takes on a different meaning – a meaning I hope to get across – not just blatantly overusing a profanity because I think I am so cool or my vocabulary is so weak that I must hide behind such garbage.

Rhiannon, zee is a good friend of mine. i agree with alot of your opinions and i have disagreed with many of zee's but i always respected him because he really cares. zee cares full time :) he physically suffered during the war on lebanon. he just gets frustrated with the futility of the bickering. he sees things differently and we have to understand his point of view.

let's take this back to a decent discussion.

Okay, Mirvat.

But I am not bickering with post 1:57 AM. He is bickering with me. I never addressed him once. I never will.

Any of his inadequate posts I have read, I shrug, and dismiss them, yet he accuses me of not doing so. Nonsense. I have only reacted because I wanted to make it clear - just now - that I don't respect his putting ideas and intentions into my mind and words into my posts that I never said.

Otherwise, ignoring him is easy.

Mirvat I am glad he is your friend. I would have no such patience.

Unfortunately you don't seem to share my view that Palestine can't rely on outside help to solve its internal issues. We differ, so be it - I don't mind. But as for a constructive stride to create a dialog, your attempts are somewhat confusing to say it gently.
Go ahead, read your own words:

"I don't understand you - and what is your solution!"

===============

1. Almost everyday I look at people that I deal with at work and people I work with and I think: What would they do........ if they knew what I knew? Read what I read? Understood what I understood? How would they react if I told them that the USA gives 'israel' over 5 billion dollars a year in tax dollars. I have done this only a few times and each time the expression is the same: suprise and awe. Maybe someday, they will look into it and understand what it means to the lower class and middle class USA with this lavish catering to 'israel' that goes on annually. Something will snap, click and they'll get it.

2. Be prepared to lose friends and turn off acquaintences: Don't let them get away with stupid remarks about the middle east.

3. Keep reading great works:

Alfred Lillienthal
Benjamin H Freedman
Michael A Hoffman
Norman Finkelstein
Edward Said
Tarik Ali
9/11 and other schemes
Saudi Arabia - a friend to 'israel' and totally unIslamic
Christopher Bollyn
John Kaminski - (I know he's way out there at times, but there's a lot of truth in what he says)
Jeff Rense
Neturai Karta
JewsAgainstZionism
Jews and the media

and so much more....

4. To go on about the Palestinians changing from within, solving problems internally, you are wrong. They hardly have the means, let alone the time, as there daily lives are rife with torment after torment brought on by a mean-spirited "neighbor" , to say it lightly - Pluto doesn't revolve around the sun. You keep not getting it. I'm not making excuses for the sad and horrid trivialities that go on in Palestine, but:

'israel' will not allow outside help for Palestine to solve Her problems - because 'israel' IS the problem. film makers, the "Rachel Corries", George Galloway, the "James Millers", many, many more "Benjamin H Freedmans",Vanessa Redgrave, Chris Hedges, other journalists, and so on.... Palestine needs this outside help badly, desperately. You're wrong…..She does. 'israel' will not allow Palestine to solve Her problems internally because:

I said this before.......

“israel’ has crammed the Arabs - into what the jews called a ghetto in Europe - in present day Gaza - the highest population density in the world.

If self-preservation was “israel’s” intended aim it would not continue to defy 1/6 of the world's population by unjustly taking land away from defenseless civilians at every opportunity.

If ‘israel’s’ intended aim is to steal Land then it makes sense; It cannot allow a peace process to succeed because it is much easier to abuse and steal from people without a country.

5. 'israel' has to change from within, not Palestine. There is no other way. The battle and political playing fields are heavily lopsided in 'israel's' favour - dismantling of the diabolical policies of the USA and 'israel' has to start.

6. The ones who have power and do not realize it - over the super rich elite - are the low/middle class people. Their dissension has to grow, they must get angry and fed up, they need to see what is being done in their name and how it is affecting them. Only they/us can dismantle their governments.

How? Just keep reading and feeding the brain-mind assembly for starters.

How do you think the zionists did it? But we don't have to be cold-hearted and greedy, as they have been, to change the world.

Anonymous said...

Look Rhiannon, I know by know that your personal opinion about me is quite charming, there is not much sense in repeating yourself over and over again about it. I got the point, I'm flattered!
Still, your obsession about my so called ignorance doesn't solve any issues at hand.
You see, I know about almost any conspiracy theory there is, additionally I inform myself through Arab, British and some other European news channels ... daily. It's not that I don't know what kind of fucking madness is going on. And I don't need to read an other smart written book to tell me what I already know. I know everything too well, to the point that it actually ruins my health.

THE WAY CIVILIZATION IS GOING ACTUALLY SCARES THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF ME!!!

But you have to understand only ONE thing of my personality that might enable you to take the edge off of your dislike of my comments: I don't subscribe to anyone!

So if I glance at Palestine from the comfort of my cosy chair, typing words on my laptop - I can only feel despair.
My words would never encompass the brutality and the injustice placed on these people.
It hurts, it fucking hurts .... do you read me? IT FUCKING HURTS!
But what are we going to do about it - isn't that somewhat essential?
Yeah, yeah, yeah - I spoke about "centering" and you keep bringing that up and mock me about it. But so what, what's wrong about searching for your identity, your center? You know as well as I do that the methods of the present (violence) has failed. There is no end to violence unless you decide there is not going to be violence anymore. Physical retribution can't be the mission, it will always end in disaster. So you see Rhiannon, the only thing I tried to get across is that the victim stops feeling or acting like a victim. That is a start in my view. There comes a time where you can't solely point your fingers at the perpetuator and blame all the ills of your situation and misery on outside circumstances. It just doesn't work. You thereby keep labeling yourself as the victim. During such a transitional period, the focus has to be on "us" - not "them". This is my wish for Palestine!
This is my wish for Lebanon as well .... focal point us, forget about them.
OK, so here you have my thee cent contribution Rhiannon, you might not like it, but then at least argue it instead of rummaging around and about my infidel personality.

By the way Rhia - you definitely need to start your own blog!

lebanon did it in the past 10 years but look at what happened. we don't like to victimize ourselves but we're not given the chance not to be victims. we're just not supposed to thrive and prosper and have a decent economy. peretz said he wanted to take lebanon 20 years back. he actually said it and they did it. don't you see.. the internal conflict will always be there. it's a form of democracy that will start with a difference in opinion in any country but will go out of control when encouraged. will turn into what iraq turned into when the country is kept in turmoil. it's a side product of wars and of people losing faith in their systems and their governments due to the chaos and the void left by the wars.

in the case of palestine.. it's much worse.. it's a never ending habitual unfairness of the whole world. it's a daily struggle for life. you've seen occupation 101. it's not about identity and not about what they want. they know what they want but who ever listened? the UN? the world? so who's to blame them really?
you say there's no point in pointing fingers but sometimes that's where you have to start. the prisoners who go on will go on.. will live every day.. waiting for the hope of a regime change. the least we can do is to shift the momentum even when slightly, is to open eyes and show what's happening, even to a small audience, is to implement small steps to uncover any government that's propagating this unfairness and great injustice. i know it's most frustrating but her israel bombed a country because it feels threatened, the US is threatening a war that would lead to a global disaster because it wants to rule, the least we can do is talk and yes yes yes blame them and attack them. we attack the elite in power. we blame the people in power. who are we supposed to blame? a farmer in gaza crying over his olive trees? a 67 year old grandmother blowing herself up over absolute despair of the dehumanizing conditions she lives in?

we have to blame the system when the system fails. we are victims.

"There comes a time where you can't solely point your fingers at the perpetuator and blame all the ills of your situation and misery on outside circumstances. It just doesn't work. You thereby keep labeling yourself as the victim. During such a transitional period, the focus has to be on "us" - not "them". This is my wish for Palestine!
This is my wish for Lebanon as well .... focal point us, forget about them."

================

Forget about them? Whose them? "israel"?

Not on your life.

You talk about this "labeling of victims" like I'm considering a brand name, brushing aside, completely, the horrifying situation of the Palestinians, not realizing that what happens to the Palestinians will happen to the rest of the Middle East, although Iraq is getting a good dose of american/israeli imperialism.

You are branding a people like you would the people of North America. Many Americans live in slums, suffer domestic abuses, the children join gangs, take drugs, sell drugs, drop out of school, commit suicide, murder their own children.....[oh, surprise, surprise, this happens among the rich, as well!].........they have a chance to turn their lives around, they have CHOICES, opportunities are close at hand, they don't have to throw their lives away, they don't have to throw their children's lives away, their downfall is their choice.

It's not the same with the Palestinians. Their situation is not the same as in North America - not one tiny bit!

Their homes are continually being Illegally destroyed by an Illegal Invading "army", their children are continually being beaten, murdered, their education delayed or stopped, they are illegally imprisoned and tortured, all of this ILLEGAL...by an illegal invading foreign army. The israelis have robbed banks in the West Bank, and 'israel' has froze funds from other countries that are meant for Gaza ILLEGALLY according to International law.

Brand the americans and brits as victims all you want......and forget about 'israel' - they are very much enjoying their "victim status" thank you, israelis love getting schmoozed, wined and dined by the christian deluded, and this victimology further serves the belligerence of "its" 'army' very well.

It's not the same idea with the Palestinians, not at all, and once again Lebanon got a taste of this ILLEGAL,hateful invasion in July-August, She understands, while you do not.

You are insulting these people as they choose NOT TO BE VICTIMS. They are fighting back, retaliating as best as they know how, all the while being falsely labelled as "terrorists".

This Ghandi thing you have up and running all of the time WILL NOT WORK. Not for the Palestinians.

You seem to have forgotten that when the Muslims were slaughtering the Hindus, Ghandi got fed up and declared physical battle against the Muslims. Finally after enough bloodshed, Ghandi went back to calling for peace.

You seem to forget the reasons why Hamas fights at all, and yet these men are even betrayed by their own people for profit. Hezballah garners much more respect from their people than Hamas does, but they are both fighting a hateful, demonic entity, that is 'israel', and aside from all the tribulations these two groups put up with within themselves and their people, all that matters for now is that they keep fighting 'israel'.

Ghandi would agree.

13 (worst) companies who support Israel’s policies:
PUT WORDS INTO ACTION!

http://users.sgci.com/~peacenews/2006NovDec.html

In October a very successful conference was held in Toronto sponsored by the Coalition Against Israeli Apartheid. One outcome was the organization of action committees of campus, labour, and faith groups to seek ways to call for divestment from Israel and from companies that support the Occupation of the Palestinian territories.

The issue of a consumer boycott, however, has not yet received much attention. In the September issue of this newsletter – Boycott – Divestment – Sanctions: A Movement Whose Time Has Come – I provided links to many sites that have listed companies to boycott (http://users.sgci.com/~peacenews/2006Sept.html). But now that the holiday shopping season is upon us, I realized that the information wasn’t in a handy format for consumers. So in this issue I’ve profiled 13 of the worst offending companies, as a reference guide for peace activists who want to make their consumer dollar matter.

But first, on a positive note, some suggestions on what TO buy.

* Please DO buy goods from small local producers where possible.

* Please DO buy books from Canadian publishers.

* Please DO buy fairly traded goods. (And please note that "fair trade" isn’t always what it appears. If it’s coming from a company like Starbucks, be a little suspicious. A lengthy profile on Starbucks appears in these pages.)

* Please DO buy Palestinian olive oil, soaps, wood carvings etc., that are marketed by trusted fair trade sources such as Zatoun and Ten Thousand Villages. For readers in Kitchener-Waterloo, I will be distributing Zatoun olive oil locally. Contact me at the e-mail above, or write to orders@zatoun.com for the distributor nearest you.
* And DO check out the Buy Nothing Christmas site: http://www.buynothingchristmas.org

13 companies with the worst record for supporting Israel’s policies:

General Electric ----------------------------- CATerpillar

The Home Depot ---- The Limited

Starbucks ------------------------------------ McDonald’s

Estée Lauder ---------------L’Oréal

Delta Galil ------- Marks & Spencer -------- Sara Lee

Coca-Cola ---------------------- Intel

Additional companies you may wish to boycott, that I haven’t profiled here, are:

Danone (yogurt, HP, Lea & Perrins, Evian water, Jacob biscuits),

Kimberly-Clark (Kleenex, Kotex, Huggies),

Johnson & Johnson, Nokia, Nestlé, and Timberland.

Most of this information has come from the site http://www.imopa.ca/boycott.htm . (Note that the site to which this page is linked has not been updated since 2003, so there may be small changes in the companies’ activities since then.) The information on General Electric and CATerpillar is from more recent sources.

If you do decide to boycott a company, the impact is increased a hundredfold if you contact the company to inform them that you are boycotting them and why.

Many of the companies listed here were recipients of Israel’s "Jubilee Awards" given on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the State in 1998. The complete list of recipients can be seen at http://www.inminds.com/boycott-jubilee-awards.html . The award recognized those "that have done the most to strengthen the Israeli economy." Prime Minister Netanyahu called it "the highest tribute ever awarded by the State of Israel".

I've noticed that the links aren't working. Just copy paste into browser and hit enter. Forget about the Christmas link, as Christmas is almost here.

================================

Some very notable new books on Israel-Palestine have come out, that remind us all of the violent foundations upon which the State of Israel was formed and continues to exist:

Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid by Jimmy Carter (yes, the former President)

http://www.amazon.com/Palestine-Peace-Apartheid-Jimmy-Carter/dp/0743285026

The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine by Ilan Pappe (distinguished Israeli historian)

http://www.amazon.com/Ethnic-Cleansing-Palestine-Ilan-Pappe/dp/1851684670

The One-State Solution: A Breakthrough for Peace in the Israeli-Palestinian Deadlock by Virginia Tilley (American political scientist working in S. Africa)

http://www.amazon.com/One-State-Solution-Breakthrough-Israeli-Palestinian-Deadlock/dp/0472115138

These would make good additions to the DO buy list – for ourselves or others, as well as for our libraries.

The British group Jews for Justice for Palestinians has a good backgrounder on Israel-Palestine at http://www.jfjfp.org/background.htm . They also have an excellent page of FAQs on the consumer boycott at http://www.jfjfp.org/BackgroundR/cbsi2.htm .

Its concluding words are:

Don’t worry that you are only one person:

Live your life as though it matters, and it will matter.

On that note, let me wish for us all a just and peaceful holiday season and New Year!

Eleanor Grant

General Electric

As both a billion-dollar arms dealer and owner of the NBC network, America’s General Electric is uniquely positioned to profit from the new arms race – and simultaneously to influence what the public knows about the weapons buildup.

GE had aircraft-engine sales in excess of $2 billion during 1996. That’s not an insubstantial amount – yet it’s only 2 percent of the corporate giant’s $79.1 billion in overall sales that year. GE remains one of the world’s three largest jet-engine makers (besides Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce PLC), and subcontracts extensively to Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and other leading aircraft and helicopter manufacturers.

General Electric makes engines for Boeing’s Apache Helicopters – AH 64s – used by the Israeli military to strafe Palestinian civilians as well as to bomb Lebanon.

See GE’s big-money deals with Egypt, Kuwait, and Israel: (http://72.14.205.104/news/special_reports/arms/israel.html).

Two deals with Kuwait were arranged through the Pentagon’s Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program, a convenient, tax-funded brokerage.

Please do not buy GE appliances.

CATerpillar

Peace activists have been calling for a boycott and divestment from the CATerpillar company since one of its bulldozers was used in the murder of Rachel Corrie in 2002.

CAT armoured bulldozers are still being employed to uproot ancient olive groves and demolish homes in the Occupied Territories. Please see this site for the latest violations of international law: http://www.catdestroyshomes.org/article.php?list=type&type=3

The company also openly advertises its bulldozers in military conflict zones such as Afghanistan and Iraq. And many bulldozers sent to Israel are actually paid for by the US taxpayer as part of Washington’s substantial contribution to Israel’s defense budget.

Please do not buy boots, caps, T-shirts, jackets, or toys from CATerpillar or displaying the CATerpillar logo. Some are sold under Dolcis, Barratts, River Island, John Lewis and Schuh labels.

The Home Depot

The Home Depot is the world’s largest home improvement retailer and the second largest retailer in the United States, with sales of $45.7 billion.

Its founder, and Co-Chairman of the Board Bernard Marcus is an active Zionist. He is on the board of directors of Emet, the pro-Israel media ‘War Room’ whose function is to ensure that all media in the US stays biased in favour of Israel.

The World
August 18, 2001

http://www.worldmag.com/world/issue/08-18-01/opening_5.asp

"A group of American business and political leaders are building a pro-Israel media ‘war room’ in Washington, D.C. The group will be called Emet – which in Hebrew means ‘truth’.

"Emet will try to address biased media coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and also make the case that the conflict, while serious and important, pales in comparison to the larger geo-strategic threat posed to the United States and the West by Iran and Iraq, both of whom are trying to build and/or acquire weapons of mass destruction.

(Ever wonder where those ‘truths’ came from? – Ed.)

"Funding Emet is Leonard Abramson; he sold U.S. Healthcare to Aetna in the mid-1990s for $8.9 billion. Abramson has recruited a powerful board of directors, including:

Bernie Marcus, founder of Home Depot,

Les Wexner, founder of The Limited (see below),

Edgar Bronfman Sr., who once owned Seagram’s,

Lou Ranieri, a major Wall Street player who now co-owns one of Israel’s largest banks, Jeanne Kirkpatrick, former U.S. Ambassador to the UN,

and Jack Kemp." (Kemp was the running-mate of Bob Dole in the 1996 presidential election – Google him for lots of Zionist connections.)
